Well, in a word or ten, I got out of the habit of posting here regularly. (Ha! Ten exactly.)

Sooooo … yeah, habit. Got out of it.
And part of why I decided to do this month-long event – well, to be honest, I just really, really love autumn. But the other part is because I knew it’d help me … drumroll, ’cause here comes the theme! … create better habits.
Willpower is meaningless. You have a limited supply of it, and it’s apparently a finite resource so the more you use in one area, the less you have available for another.
Habits, though … habits don’t let you down. Habits put you on autopilot, and lessen the amount of effort and sheer white-knuckling you’ll have to do to get a project completed or a goal reached.
One of the best resources I’ve ever read for creating better habits is Charles Duhigg’s The Power of Habit. It’s the best, simplest, and most practical breakdown of how habits get formed (and broken) and how to create better ones that I’ve ever read.
